This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SAP Project Accountant to join a highly successful, rapidly expanding European Division of a £4Bn t/o global blue-chip who are the No 1 global market leader in their sector. Based in an impressive European Head Office on the outskirts of Warrington, your remit will be to support the business as it implements SAP HANA across its 11 European sites through 2019 and 2020. Operating as the local finance resource to the Groups Global SAP HANA implementation team you will report to the European Finance Director and will support the UK based finance team as well as the European sites that report into the UK (total 22 key business partners within finance).
Whilst SAP HANA knowledge and experience is desirable the FD appreciates it HANA a relatively new system so will happily consider applicants who have worked with more recent SAP versions over the last 4-5 years who consider their SAP knowledge to be advanced or Super user level and who are comfortable that they would quickly develop a thorough understanding of SAP HANA and its functionality. Your remit will include ensuring the new system is embedded fully and effectively across the European operation and operating as the lead trainer and support for all finance team members working with the new SAP HANA system. Aside from working and testing to ensure that SAP HANA is correctly embedded prior to parallel running and go-live in April 2020 you will also be responsible for assisting the finance team with issues and queries when the system fully launches, working to rectify any issue that are likely to arise due to the scale and complexity of the project.
Our client is looking for an Accountant and not a Systems person. There is global support and a projects team on the IT side and implementation itself and this role is mainly to support the team and train them to use SAP HANA to its full capability. They need someone who is familiar with all finance processes and how everything links together. They expect a 12-18 months of issues as the latest SAP version is very different to the current SAP R3 System and so need someone who is a strong and confident character who can take this project in their stride. They expect the next 18 months to be pretty crazy - but in a good way - with the ongoing establishment of the European HO and the SAP HANA implementation. Our client isn't looking to consider applicants who have had limited exposure to SAP or have only ever worked with older versions years ago as they will not be able to fulfil the remit of the role. They have said they want someone who has lived and breathed SAP for the last 3-5 years. Our client doesn't envisage there being any requirement for European travel in this role and if there ever was it would be minimal.
